Profession: Professional Ski Bum (which means I’m a ski patroller and heli ski guide)
Hobbies: skiing, mountain biking, backpacking, adventure travel and seeing live music. All of which are better when shared with friends!
What is your biggest passion: skiing
How you got into skiing ("Life Notes”): My parents had me on skis when I could barely walk. I grew up skiing racing in Alaska and transitioned to free skiing, then competing in the freeskiing world tour after college. It was during that time I joined the Tecnica Blizzard family! At the same time I taught skiing for a couple years and then found myself ski patrolling at Squaw Valley. I was drawn to the excitement of the job, we have one of the largest avalanche control programs in the country, which means throwing lots of bombs and skiing lots of powder! While patrolling I also got into snow cat guiding and then heli-ski guiding which I still do currently at the Tordrillo Mountain Lodge in Alaska each spring.
Why do you ski?: I ski for the feeling of freedom, the constant challenges skiing presents, the connection with nature, and for the ability to explore the mountains any time of year.
What the Women to Women project means to you:
Over the years I have been involved in the design process for many other companies in ski industry. From those experiences I know how unique it is to put a focus on women interacting with other women to design women specific products. The Women to Women project shows Tecnica Blizzard‘s commitment to creating a superior women’s product line as well as supporting relationships between women in the industry. We already have the best women specific products on the market, I’m excited to see where we will go from here!
Women understand what they want but also
have an open mind to new ideas and directions that
will improve, elevate and expande their horizons.
